An irresistible concept meets computer-generated wonders in Night at the Museum, inspired by a 1993 children's book by Milan Trenc. Ben Stiller stars as Larry Daley, an underachieving inventor waiting for his ship to come in while getting evicted from one apartment after another for lack of funds. Larry's son needs some stability, so the well-meaning ne'er-do-well takes a job as night watchman at New York City's Museum of Natural History. What the soon-to-retire guards (Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs) don't tell him is that an ancient pharaoh's tablet in the museum causes everything on display to come to life at night. Thus, Larry meets representations of Teddy Roosevelt, Attila the Hun, fire-worshipping cavemen, and Roman Empire soldiers, and learns to cope with an excitable T-Rex and man-eating, ancient animals. The film might have left things at that, but an added story element gives Night at the Museum some extra urgency and excitement, especially fo! r kids: Larry becomes responsible for keeping this nightly miracle going and preventing anything in the museum from dying due to exposure to sunrise. Computer effects, as well as wildly imaginative costumes and makeup, help make the film appeal to the 8-year-old in everyone. Director Shawn Levy (The Pink Panther) works with a hugely talented cast, including Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Ricky Gervais, Carla Gugino, and Steve Coogan. --Tom Keogh Night at the Museum Extras Ben Stiller on Director Shawn Levy | Ricky Gervais on the size of his trailer and eating cheese. |

An Entertaining Film January 7, 2009 Once in a while I love a film that only tries to entertain, and this film is a great example. It's genuinely fun to watch.
Night at the Museum January 6, 2009 Great condition and a really good buy. I bought two and gave one away to a friend. Shipping was fast. I like that is was indeed factory new and sealed. It also had to Movie logo printed on the disk. Not made up to look new. Thank you.
Museums January 6, 2009 This movie invites the audience to takes a child's look of wonder in the Museum of natural history as the exhibits really come to life. It is fun for the whole family.
Anything that gets my kid excited to go to a museum... January 6, 2009 My 5 year old loves this movie. He still enjoys animated movies more, but this movie is the exception. He wants to go to the Museum of Natural History now and is convinced despite explanations that everything does come to life at night. Enjoyable for children and adults! We have watched it over and over.
Exceeded My Expectations December 24, 2008 This movie was highly enjoyable. I reluctantly rented it but am now glad I did. Has a bit of everything: action, drama, and even the beautiful heroine whom Robin Williams as Theodore Roosevelt gets in the end. I truly loved the character of Theodore Roosevelt in this movie - the wise and confident guide - very strong performance indeed. Strong message indeed that really hits home:
1. We all have a purpose and mission in this life that is much greater than ourselves as selfish and oftentimes lost individuals.
2. Perform random acts of kindness, help and serve others and it will come back to you 10-fold.
Rent this movie. You won't regret it. Also, Night At The Museum 2 is coming out in 2009. It will take place at the Smithsonian!
