 Not Happy January 5, 2009
Too much money for half a season for starters. Both disks played fine at first. After watching it a second time, the second dvd wouldn't play. What a let down. I'm still a fan of Rocko's, but I expect quality dvd's. Five stars for Rocko, but two stars for putting this show on DVD-R.

URRRG! Why doesn't viacom just release the WHOLE SEASON! Dont buy this product! If Nick sees that the fans are happy without the full series, they'll never release the whole series! I've been DESPERATE for Rocko for quite a few years now, I dont know why they're releasing whole series of Doug and Hey Arnold but hold out until they release the uncut whole series(like Ren and Stimpy)!

It was a quality DVD with lots of great episodes. I wish they would make one for Ahhh Real Monsters! and Angry Beavers. It was fun watching it with my friends and reliving childhood memories.

It's a shame that Paramount/Nickelodeon isn't taking Rocko's Modern Life more seriously, because this show does deserve a better release than a basic DVD-R presentation. I enjoyed re-watching this old show more than I thought I would.
That said, these discs have relatively good quality. There are compression artefacts on a few scenes, and some dirt and scratch removal ("DVNR") artefacts do show up; but these are likely to be the fault of the original masters and not a fault of the DVD per se.
The menu design is very basic and the wrong highlight map appears to have been applied on the Scene Selection menu; but it doesn't really affect usability.
As for this being on DVD-R: it's unusual, but it will work on any decent player. While I'd love a better-packaged, "real" release of Rocko on DVD, this is a decent but overpriced interim.
BTW, in response to this being censored - as far as I'm aware (and I COULD BE WRONG), none of the episodes on this set have been subjected to cuts (but the last one on the second disc has been struck from a sped-up time compressed master).

First, let me say that I haven't owned a TV in three years. I watch all my TV through an EyeTV device hooked up to my mac. This said, I'm very disturbed by this warning in the product description: "This disc is expected to play back in DVD Video"play only" devices, and may not play in other DVD devices, including recorders and PC drives." Does this mean that I'd be unable to play this back in my Mac? Do I get my money back if my mac cannot play back the disc?
If you own this collection, please post here & let us know if the discs play on your Mac or PC.
