Amazon.com Who hasn't had the dream of being a tap dancer? Bonnie Franklin, formerly with Donald O'Connor and a tap dancer since the age of 9, makes your dream come true--at least in your living room. Franklin is a warm, motivating and skillful teacher, and she obviously loves tap dancing. The former TV sitcom star leads you through your first steps, appropriate for the two-left-feet among us. Later sections get progressively more complex. Learn a basic tap step, then another, practice and practice, and put them together. Before long, you're dancing complete routines. The video runs 86 minutes, but Franklin suggests you stop and practice a section until you're proficient rather than trying to get through it all at once. This is a dance-instruction video, not an exercise video. When you get skilled enough to dance the combinations and routines, you'll get a workout, but at first, it will be more like a drill. The video was produced in 1984, but it's not outdated, and the production is high quality. This is a popular video and lots of fun! --Joan Price

Fun and Easy October 17, 2008 I've taken tap years ago but never really got the hang of it. I've started with this DVD and within the first lesson, I'm learning so much. It's so fun too and it's direct to the point so you can't get bored.
I love it (now I'm looking one for jazz and ballet :)
Fun even without your taps! May 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This video doesn't require that you get in your leotard and tap shoes. The whole family can do it in their socks and NOT sound like a herd of elephants running through your apartment. Low key and fun. Grade: A+
Bonnie Franklin's valentine to Tap and Tap dancers April 24, 2008 It is clear that Bonnie Franklin loves tap and people that tap dance. This video, I'm sure, is a work of love and a gift to us. For that reason I'd buy it for the sheer joy that she brings. That is the soul of "I hate to execrcise, I love to Tap." The quality of instruction, photography, music and set has been described very well by previous reviewers. This video will fulfill its promise to you as a dancer and help you to be a happier person. P.S. If you're a dancer, get the DVD format as it is also on VHS.
not as simple as it looks! April 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i was really excited to start tapping.. and although i have previous dancing experience (but not tap) i still found this dvd very slightly challenging but fun..
only get this if you are interested in learning to tap but not as a substitute for a real workout... its something in between high & low impact exercise, as its much more mellow than aerobics and slightly more energetic than yoga.. i use it to break the routine but not as a workout routine on its own.
Best Way to Learn Tap March 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am taking a tap class and this video with Bonnie Franklin beats my class hands down. Not only can you really go at your own pace, but Bonnie explains how you really need to implant into your brain and feet the basic movements of tap.
